A fragment of time preserved through three hands—each posed in silent ritual, each belonging to a century-old memory. One hand, crowned with a ruby ring, becomes the focal point: a whisper of status, ceremony, and identity. Together, they form a delicate choreography of presence, loss, and timeless grace.
This work emerges from a deteriorated early 20th-century glass negative, where faces and bodies have vanished, but the hands remain—still expressive, still eloquent. Three distinct hands form a quiet constellation of gestures, each shaped by forgotten customs and intimate rituals.
One hand bears a striking red ruby ring, digitally reimagined to honour the authority, elegance, or story it once symbolised. The colours and textures are drawn directly from the damaged emulsion, allowing decay to become an active collaborator.
In Timeless Hands, Silent Rituals, the absence of the full figure invites the viewer to focus on what remains: the language of touch, the grace of posture, and the enduring poetry found in fragments. This artwork preserves a gesture that time tried to erase—and transforms it into contemporary art.
