Reconstructing Our Common Values 2021/22
The themes that influence my work capture moments observed over a long period and are the ones that are struggling with social injustice and how it affects individualism.
Mountainous landscapes are the new elements introduced in my surreal compositions. They seem to balance the moment of inspiration and expose reality pleasantly to the audience.
Transforming hand-made drawings into digital paintings is a two-time experience of creation.
We're living in the most technologically advanced time in history. With the increasing rise of a myriad of technological upgrades, changes, and inventions, it is safe to say that nearly every industry is rapidly evolving. The art industry has been transformed through technology almost into a new field, bringing to the fore new dimensions and creating potentials that previously could not have been exposed or imagined.
NFT is the technology that allows digital art and not only, to be bought and sold through a decentralized blockchain. It also offers the owner of the NFT the legality of ownership, and at the same time, it secures all creational copyrights to the artists.
The unexpected characters in Sergis’ work antagonize the artist himself, for a plane of coexistence within the canvas frame, as well as, volumetric substantiation in an image that has absolved its sense of spatial depth. The world portrayed by Sergis is not a hospitable environment for its dwelling bodies, hence their organic deconstruction becomes a governing rule for their representational endurance. Visually vulnerable, they risk instant assimilation by the monochromatic surroundings, as they linger in a state of constant transformation. For the viewer, such creatures are mostly formed as a by-product of external forces, rather than the materialization of their interior characteristics. A situation and survival condition, parallel to the effort of contemporary artists to appropriate space for artistic existence in the traditional and single-dimensional cultural Cypriot landscape.

About The Collection
My art is socially motivated and combines emotions that choose to generate thought. The themes that influence my work are drawn from unsolved political ones that for generations our societies have not resolved and probably will not for many years to come.
Uniting my actual drawings with a familiar mountainous landscape brings the painting closer to the audience and visually illuminates my surreal original style. My new work offers more complicated compositions than previewed ones. I choose to manually use the tools offered. Only the first two are physical acrylic paintings on canvas. Transforming hand-made drawings into digital paintings is a two-time experience of creation.
