Hiding Behind the Unexpected
60 × 81 cm (70 × 91 cm framed) · Digital composition (2023), acrylic on printed cotton canvas (2025)
Two young sisters hold each other with joyful closeness, standing together as one form. In front of them appears the portrait of a young gentleman — his presence resembling an ancient sculpted head, calm and enduring.
The images originate from separate glass negatives, brought together not by intent but through the quiet chances of time and material decay. Yet their meeting feels strangely natural, as if a forgotten story has resurfaced.
The sisters seem to lean into a world they could not have known,
finding comfort in the unexpected presence before them.
