A young Cypriot man’s portrait merges with that of a British soldier — two lives captured on separate glass negatives during the colonial period. Their accidental fusion becomes a silent dialogue between the occupied and the occupier, between awareness and authority.

Coloured in subdued military greens and light browns, the composition evokes both confrontation and reflection. The Cypriot figure seems to sense the tension of his time — recognising, within this chance encounter, the larger struggle unfolding around him.

An unintended yet powerful convergence —
