2019 — Metamorphosis Exhibition Year

In 2019, Metamorphosis was presented as Sergis Adamos’s first solo exhibition developed from the deteriorated glass negative archive. Curated by Dr. Kostas Prapoglou and opened with an address by Charalambos Bakirtzis, the exhibition marked the first public presentation of a body of work in which damaged photographic plates were transformed into contemporary digital and mixed-media artworks.

In these works, the figures are not restored to their original photographic clarity. Many faces are obscured, covered, or partially dissolved through digital and acrylic intervention, shifting attention from individual identification to the material condition of the archive itself: fusion, erosion, chemical damage, and disappearance.

The page brings together selected works from the exhibition, installation views, process images, opening-night documentation, and photographs from the relocation of the archive.

The exhibition was sponsored and hosted by the Annabelle Hotel in Kato Paphos.
